Hello,
It has been like 6 months since the problem started, 2 different mechanics tested the car and they both couldn't find the problem.

When ever I drive at around 65mph an odd smell of burnet gases comes into the passanger cabin, a really strong smell.
It happens only at high speeds.

Any clue? I can't find information on the web about this issue.
Please help me with your suggestion.

I have a Suzuki swift 2008 1.5 auto.

Thanks.

Burnt gasses... as in exhaust gasses? That would suggest to me an exhaust leak. Maybe at one of the joints?

Is there any DIY way for me to test for leaks? at least for the parts that I can reach with my hands.

And thanks for the fast response

I'm surprised, looks like the Swift's engine rotates counterclockwise, meaning the exhaust manifold is on the front of the engine, rather than on the back as with most other manufacturers.

Usually you can hear a leak. Your car won't be perfectly silent anymore, especially under load. Sometimes you can feel it if you move your hand near the joints in the exhaust. It may be that it only leaks when the engine is under load - torque will cause it to move a bit, which may cause it not to leak when idling in a garage.

my guess is that it is a valve cover gasket or some other small-ish oil leak that is finding its way onto the exhaust piping. probably only happens at higher speeds as it takes a bit for the car to get warmed up.

How about a body air leak and nothing wrong with the exhaust? something like the ford cop cars last fall.

Cars are nowhere near air tight. In this case the "burnt gasses" are coming from somewhere that isn't the tailpipe.

Around the exhaust they are, whole undercarriage even. Then they go and put a cabin air intake under the hood.
