Odd RAM problem...help me figure this out

1600+ oc'd to 166mhz FSB on Generic 256mb pc2100 @ pc2700 w/2.6v....So, from the start: I take my comp to a LAN party this last weekend and when I get there it doesn't boot up, I reset the bios and everything works right so I set it back to the overclock...doesn't boot. I take the RAM out and put it in slot2 and it works at overclocked speed. Get home the next morning, doesn't boot, put RAM to slot1 again everything works fine again...I've been stable since Sunday morning and no problems with booting, but today I decided to check out my system resources and it reports that I only have 128mb of RAM!!! Has anyone ever heard of 1/2 a stick of RAM dying out and still working? It makes no sense to me and I really don't want to have to buy new RAM considering I have no money...well, hope you all enjoy my little story and hopefully can at least explain what just happened, hehe.

Well i have no idea, but you might wanna try posting this in General Hardware. This isn't really overclocking related and plus you'll get a lot more replies there.
But here's another bump to see if someone more knowledgeable than myself comes along. 🙂

Very common to see in an OC`d setup for 1/2 of the ram or just an odd amount to be displayed... Your best option is to get good ram to OC with and leave the cheap stuff to the stock speed systems... (you end up with either poor or very strange results...) 😉

I'm a bit confused...You say it is common that it display 1/2 or an odd amount? So does that meant that it is only displaying it or is that all I'm using? Sorry about my confusion but the way I read the post it wasn't clear.
