Odd Question

I have no clue where to begin my search on this, so here goes:

This is for a race car application. I need to have a screen (5-7 inch lcd) that I can upload or write text into. Then, with the push of a button, I need the text to change to the next preset.

Example: I need to enter info on course markings and want them to display one at a time and change with the press of a button. My aim in this situation is not GPS, just a way to have text on a screen that I change manually.

What is the best way to accomplish this? Buy a screen that plugs into a computer, insert my text, but then how do I accomplish a slide show with an external button?

Thanks in advance for any help, sorry for the confusing question.

Hmm,
* Create JPEGs of the text and use a "photo album" display?
* "Carputer" and use powerpoint (Advanced Search > "carputer")
* PocketPC that has an optional VGA out card and use PocketPC presentation / slide software

might be able to write/ find a program that will flip through photos by pushing arrow keys.

maybe use one of those mouse replacements that is a handheld mini wireless thing to control it

Photo album display as in those frames that switch pictures every so often?

Would there be anyway to do it without a keyboard/touch screen? If possible I would just like to use a mil spec radio button or the like.
