Odd question - Downloading anything from Microsoft sites kills internet connection.

On a Windows 2000 machine downloading anything that has to do with Microsoft from a Microsoft site will kill the internet connection.

Windows update, update to IE, service packs, media player.. all of it dies.

Nothing else on the web breaks it.. just everything MS.

Any ideas?
