Well I'm not quite sure if the drive is getting ready to give up the ghost or if something else is going on. The drive sure doesn't act like it's going to die but I could be wrong. What's going on is some movies for no apparent reason that I can discern do not show up on the XMB when I insert the disc. However this doesn't happen for all movies. Most other movies I insert the blu ray and they start and play just fine. All of my games play just fine as well without a hitch. So I'm leaning towards it being something else, the thing is I'm not quite sure what the problem is.
I've tried setting BD-Live to be a prompt before enabling and that didn't help. I've tried using static settings as opposed to DHCP and that didn't help. I recently just cleaned the drive with a blu ray lens cleaner (one that has hollows for the brushes to fold up into) and that didn't help either. The system software is up to date and I haven't been able to find any solutions on the web. Any ideas on other things that I should perhaps try? One interesting note, if it makes any difference, I have my D-Link DIR-615 set to UPnP enabled yet the PS3 does not see it as enabled for some reason.
