Odd problems viewing folders in Vista

Hello all,

Im having an odd problem looking at certain folders/areas on my computer. My wife was moving/uploading some pictures this morning and said thats when it first started happening.

So far it seems to effect My Pictures folder and if I right click my background to personalize my display it shows a blank page and displays "Page failed to Load"

I cant seem to find anything about it searching google etc or on search here - anyone have any ideas? A 3D gaming app seems to be working ok. as well as IE....

Im kinda scared to do a restart/system restore before I know what could be the problem.

Any advice much appreciated!!!

(BTW this is the first problem Ive had with the computer since I built it in April)

EDIT to add - half the icons when I open Control Panel do not show properly, and the folder messes up when you try to select an icon, and if you manage to, it just pulls up a blank page with the same "Page failed to load" error.

Have you restarted to see if the problem is transient?
System restore is safe, it won't roll back your user data (such as those pictures). If the problem survives the reboot I suggest going ahead and rolling back to yesterday.

Ill try a restart now, I just wanted to make sure it wasnt something obvious (to others) before doing anything that could worsen the problem.

I just uploaded 800mb of pictures and movies from my camera last night of our 3 month old daughter to clear room on the camera's memory card and Id hate to lose those!!!

Im going to see if I can burn a copy of them all to a dvd before restarting.

Thanks and I'll keep you posted!!

Sorry about the double post, but just wanted to let you know everything is back to normal after the restart - I'll go ahead and roll back to my last system restore point.

After talking to my wife, the problem came up this morning while she was moving around pictures and uploading them to winkflash (sp?) some site she wanted to order prints off of. Do you think there is some sort of problem with using that site, Im tempted to just tell her to steer clear of it, but Id hate to overreact.

Thanks,
Eir

System Restore is pretty nice, I'd say try the site again and if the problem returns you have that as a safety net...
