Odd problem with power windows

Have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE. For some reason the drivers side window won't come down unless its real cold outside. Even then I ain't sure it works all the time when its cold. It hasnt worked all summer but the first real cold day we had here it worked perfect all that day untill the weather warmed back up(next day).

Its a very odd problem and would like to know if anyone has any idea whats going on?
 
Probably a short in the electrical. I had the same thing happen with my Olds Aurora, and there was a short in the door.
 
Do you hear the mechanism inside moving but just the window doesn't go up and down, or does pressing the switch just not make anything happen? Mine had the window come unattached from the mechanism that goes up and down which made it now go down. But I could hear the gears and such working inside the door and could manually get the window to go down using my hands...

Pull the switch plate off and see if voltage is getting to, and passing through the switch. If it's not getting to the switch, it could be a fuse or poor connection. If it gets to the switch, but not through, then it's bad. If it is going through, pull the panel off and check the voltage at the motor when the switch is on. If voltage is reaching the motor, but it still isn't spinning, the motor is the problem. If no voltage is reaching the motor, you'll have to trace the wires back for a bad connection, or break in the wire.
