Odd problem with Office 2003

As the topic summary states.

I bought a Raptor 150 recently and installed it and imaged my old hard drive and copied everything over. All seemed good. All programs work (didn't even have to reactive windows) - but my Office 2003 programs will not load (asks for my install disk).

I bought Office 2003 *a long* time ago, and can't find my install disks (I moved in Feb 2007 and can't find them - tore up the house looking for them). My Windows and Office is completely 100% legal and it is the retail versions, if that makes a difference (cost a pretty penny back then at Best Buy), so I would assume that' s not the problem. Oh - it says Office is already registered - but it wants the install disk.

All my other programs work just fine booting with the Raptor except Office. Is there a way to fix this short of buying another copy?

Does anyone know what is causing this. Everything else works just fine. :(

I don't want to buy another copy for a program I legally bought in the first place as MS already got my money.

I will not do anything illegal to fix this; but is there a way to somehow fix this without buying another copy. :(

If you have the product serial number, then all you really need is the media.

You should be able to extract your serial number with system information tools like Belarc Advisor. If you have not re used your old hard drive you may be able to get the number from there. Once you have your serial number you can legally borrow a copy or download an ISO file from a torrent site, make sure you virus check anything you download. If you get it figured out post back. PS What imaging software did you use?

You can download a trial version from MS (or could in the past I least; I don't know if MS still offers Office 2003 for download now that 2007 is out) and activate it using your serial number.

Thanks for the replies. I have my serial number/activation code and it's a legal retail version so I believe it's perfectly ok per the EULA to switch hard drives (and the only copy is on my Raptor).

I used the Western Digital bundled program (Data Lifeguard Tools - I think is what it's called) to do a drive to drive copy; I know it's not the best, but I didn't want to spring more cash on top of the drive to buy ghost. It worked almost perfectly, all my programs and windows worked fine when my I switched primary (boot) hard drive - It was only office - which I though was odd.

I'll try the MS site for a trial version, or failing that try to borrow an office disk and use my own code for the install.

I kept all of my original disks (MS XP, printer drivers, AutoCAD, games, etc) in one box, but when we moved; then contents got split into several boxes, and now I can't find it. I'd blame the wife; but I hardly want to sleep on the couch :)

Thanks for the advice - just sucks to spend a lot of money ($399 at WorstBuy if I remember correctly) on a piece of software and not be able to reinstall it.

I'm glad nobody suggested less than legal means (yes I know I could easily fix the problem that way) - but I wouldn't have paid $$ for it in the first place if I was willing to do that.
