Odd pop-up adds since I got a cable modem

I just got a cable modem from comcast and since i got it i get these odd popup adds. They are not like internet popups they are in some kind of an almost warning window box. I am running windows XP and i have the latest version of bullet proof software's Addware Spyware remover and it says i am running with no spy/add ware, I even went the trouble of reformating my windows partition and reinstalling windows but the adds still come. They really piss me off cause when i play games they minimize the game window and that can really screw me up. If anyone knows of a way to stop these things, please tell.

try mozilla-firebird, that's a better browser than internet explorer and mozilla-firebird allows you to stop pop up ads. Also I the google toolbar for internet explorer allows you to block pop up ads here is a link
