Odd network outage issue

In the past few days, we will lose our uverse network signal at the router. The odd thing is that if I try to go to any url, it resolves back to my default gateway. For example, if I type in google.com in my browser field, it will sit there for a minute and then come up with an invalid credential field and resolve to my default gateway. If I open a dos prompt and ping any url, it resolves back to my default gateway as well.

The only fix is to restart the router, a motorolla NVG589 and then restart the computers and then they all work again.

Is this a sign of Arp table or arp cache corruption? If I flush my dns, it still doesn't fix the issue until I restart the router and my pc.

Has anyone heard of this before? It's so odd..

Are you sure you need to restart the computer? Have you tried simply releasing/renewing your IP address (assuming DHCP)? I suspect a bad router/modem if you need to restart the router/modem for the fix.

He probably needs to restart the computers because of the DNS cache or ARP table.

I would run Ccleaner and check the option to flush the DNS cache before opting to restart the computer.

I couldn't find firmware for this router/modem. You may need a new router/modem.

Definitely need to restart the computer and I'm using a static ip I've configured in the router that has worked for years. I can release and renew the ip and flush the dns cache and it makes no difference. I have to restart the computer to make the network work again after restarting the router.
