Odd mp3 player audio problem

For some reason when im using the remote extension and i plug my headphones in all the way it only plays sound in one earphone. If i pull it out slightly it plays in both 😕

Is this something i can tinker with and fix by myself if i can open the remote?

if you get stereo when you plug the headphones directly into the player, i think its safe to say that its a problem with the extension.

Yeah it's definitely the extension but im just wondering if this is something anyone else has experienced with any other player. I remember i had a iriver slimX that showed a similar problem as it got older
