Odd little AMD 380X problem

I've got the latest drivers installed, Win7-64, all up-to-date.

Occasionally (maybe once every two weeks), when the computer resumes from sleep mode, the graphics card fans crank up to what sounds like 100%. The way that I've been using to get the fan speed to return to normal is to fire up the 'AMD Settings' program; as soon as the UI appears, the fan speeds return to normal.

I don't have any fan management software installed. The card is a Sapphire 380X with factory overclock.

Anyone else having this problem?

I had something fairly similar happen a few months back, every single time I rebooted/resumed the system the gpu fans would ramp to 100% and stay there until I went to the settings panel. For whatever reason it would default to manual fan control at full speed and I had to change the fan speed to auto in the overdrive panel.

Unfortunately I can't be much more help as it was one of those things that started happening by itself and then stopped happening by itself a little while later without me doing anything specific that I can remember to fix it. Definitely worth uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers or maybe reverting to an earlier version (sometimes the very newest drivers have bugs like this). Might try re-seating the card in the slot and cleaning the contacts as well, a bit of dust in the wrong place can cause all sorts of bizarre issues. Failing that I wouldn't be stressing too much if it's only happening occasionally, it's probably related to the AMD settings not resuming correctly after sleep.

Yes, I noticed that as well on a XFX 380X, but it don't last that long before it throttles down again to normal speeds.
Seems like a driver issue of some type.
