Edit: 12/29/2004: I've been out of state and on vacation for the past week. I received a call on Monday that the company would like to conduct a 2nd interview, but couldn't wait until I returned to the area this coming weekend. A 2nd confererence interview was scheduled for this afternoon. After an exhaustive interview, I felt very tired out - many of the same questions were asked the 2nd time that were asked the first. However, about an hour ago, an offer was extended to me for this assignment.
3 months - contract to hire position. 3 months - contract to hire position. I have lots of solid experience and not too many people in the U.S. have my technical skills with this product. A nice increase over my last salary is in order.
  - It's been a long haul for me.

About 7 years ago, I attended a course where a stressful 8-hour exam was given at the end. Out of 12 members in our class, I scored the highest and received special recognition for the efforts I applied.
Fast forward to today:
Today, I had a technical interview on the phone that had been in the works for the past several weeks. About 4 members representing the company were on the other end of the conference line. The members quickly mentioned their names at the start of the interview. Needless to say, I didn't fully catch the last name of the guy on the panel.
The interview proceeded and I described my skills and how they would relate to the position I was interviewing for. About 10 minutes into the interview, the guy proclaims that he was in my class at the time and sat right behind me. I fully remembered him and the assignment that he was going to once the class ended. Fortunately, he spoke quite highly of me and my engaged role during the class. He does not work at the location I will work - should I get the position, but he's about 500 miles away at another site.
I guess for a brief moment, I felt a bit odd because someone was interviewing me who I had pwn3d in a class several years back. Then again, I felt good that I had applied good efforts to receive what I did, which placed me in a good standing for the position.
Moral of my story: You never know if you'll bump into people from your past. Try to be the best that you can because you never know how people from the past will come back into your lives.
