Odd icon transparency issue with Windows 7

I searched and did not see anything that stood out.

I was trying to see all file folders in Windows 7 and checked show everything visible then everything actually disappeared after the process went through. All my extra file folders were gone, then I went through the process again and am able to see everything BUT the icons are all transparent. Any ideas what I may have done? I may just reformat tomorrow if nothing helps. I cannot honestly recall exactly what I did because it was late and I was really tired.
