odd HDD issue

Anubis

No Lifer
Not exactly sure where this should go but this is really odd

I have 5 HDDs in my comp.
1 SSD for windows
3 spindle drives for stuff
1 SSD for games

the SSD for games i recently installed and it works fine. HOWEVER i also use an ESATA drive for backups and when i connect the ESATA cable it disconnects the SSD i have for games (unmount's it) the external drive isnt even turned on, its simply plugging in the cable that does it

when i unplug the cable the games drive is detected and shows up just fine

anyone have any idea WTF this is

Your motherboard only supports a certain number of SATA channels and probably shares a channel with the ESATA, it might also be a BIOS option. But likely just the SATA controller. Try using a different SATA input for the SSD if there are others available and check SATA options in the BIOS for anything that might pertain to this.

The eSATA drive doesn't share the same drive letter as the game SSD?

no thats what i thought at first so i made them pretty far apart

SSD drive is set to "H"

ESATA drive is "Q"

ill try a diff sata port off the mobo,
