Odd Freezing Problem

Hey guys. I really hope you can help me out. I built my friends' computer last year and it's been freezing randomly ever since. He didn't really care all that much, but now he wants it fixed. It seems to freeze, among other things, when he tries to join a server in counter strike. At first I thought it was his OS install, so I reinstalled XP. No Luck. Then I thought it was memory, so I swapped it with 512 of mine. Still froze when joinig a CS server. Then I thought it was his Video Card, so I swapped it with mine. Again, it froze. I've updated all the drivers that I can and short of replacing the motherboard or PSU, I don't know what to do. I'm trying to find Mobo diags, but with no luck.

His board is a EpoX Ep-8RDA3+

It has diags built on to it, via error codes that it would give if there was a problem. It reports the CPU is fine and it's not getting any weird voltages. This is a problem I can't solve on my own.

Here are the specs:
EpoX Ep-8RDA3+
AMD Barton 2800+
Sapphire 9700 Pro
512 MB Corsair XMS
Sound Blaster Audigy (i don't know if it's audigy 2 or not)

I think that's all. Please help if you can. Thanks

What brand and wattage is the power supply?

From what you are saying, i'd narrow it down to motherboard issues or weak/bad power supply.

if it only froze when trying to join a server, could it be something to do with your connection?
try a pci network card if you are using an integrated one

I thought of that too, but i we sometimes get colored lines appearing on the screen that only go away if we turn off the computer totally for a few seconds
