I have two particular systems that aren't quite talking to each other. They are hooked up through a gigbit switch and each has two gigabit cards, and a set of folder shares. Both are WinXP SP2 and IPs are set manually to 192.168.0.10 (Comp A) and .11 (Comp B). There are four other Win2K systems that all function perfectly (192.168.0.1-4).
The problem is I can only view shares and copy files from one computer to and from the other (Computer A to and from Computer B). Computer B can "see" Computer A's shares, but when I try to open them, I get the typical network hang, and the generic permission/password error that Windows always gives after like two minutes or so.
I've troubleshooted the IPs, and they both are set and pinging each other correctly - obviously if Computer A can copy files from or to Computer B. I've double-checked the user permissions for both systems. Typically, those are the only problems I have. So what's the next step to try?
The only problem I can imagine that may have started this...Computer B's gigabit card was pulled for a week or so, and placed back in (while troubleshooting something unrelated). Would this have reset something?
