Odd EFI/GPT problem with Samsung 830

Hello all,

Just looking for some insight here. I picked up a Samsung 830 256GB SSD in the recent sales to replace my Intel X25-M G2 160GB. When I tried to install Windows 7 64-bit Professional on it, the boot installer states that my motherboard's controller isn't compatible and therefore it can't install Windows on a GPT drive. This is odd, because I currently have a GPT partition on my Intel X25-M G2, with a fully functional install of the aforementioned OS. I run a BIOS on my Z68XP-UD4, but it's able to create and boot on GPT partitions. Beyond the obvious "the Samsung 830 isn't playing nice with this hybrid system," does anyone have any other thoughts? The 830's firmware is up to date and it can fully be read/accessed in Windows. The Z68XP-UD4's UEFI doesn't seem to have great reviews/experiences posted online, so I'm hesitant to update my board. I searched and read through this thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2228064 , but I didn't find the answer.

Thanks for any help/thoughts/suggestions.

Cheers,
Mr. K6
