So the other night we were talking about some random stuff when the night was winding down. The point of cleanliness came up in the conversation and I made the following hypothesis:

There are two types of people. Those who make sandwiches on a paper towel and those who make sandwiches on the kitchen counter. The people who require a paper towel are generally cleaner (around the house) than those who do not.

Hypothesis proven in our small pool of people. Discuss.

What if I just make them on the plate that I eat it off of?

I think that would qualify you on the side of the paper towel user. Then again I have no idea how clean you consider yourself to be.

FALSE.

I build my sandwiches on a paper towel... and I'm pretty messy. I throw my laundry (dirty AND clean) on the floor, I leave dishes in the sink for days and I have a tendency to leave garbage around the house. Oh, I clean up if I'm having company... but if it's just me... fuck it.

But someone could keep their kitchen so clean that it's perfectly OK for them to prepare a sandwich on their obviously very clean counter?

Nah that's not really the point. A person who keeps their kitchen that clean would never just throw bread on it and go to town.

Well, I've always made my sammiches on a plate, but I have evolved from a slob to a bit of a neat freak.

I use paper towel cause I'm too lazy to use a plate/clean the plate, and I'm not that clean, which is the very reason I wouldnt want my food directly on the counter...

Then your results don't apply to me. I make my sandwich on a plate and I'm pretty messy.

This is what I do. I never put food directly on my counter.

My house is not exactly tidy. :Q

You are on the counter side, then. You know how dirty some random hooker's ass must be?

Even the expensive ones? Maybe it's a stipulation of mine that they thoroughly wash their ass before any crazy stuff goes down.

Why not? Maybe they routinely keep the kitchen clean for the purpose of being able to place food items on any surface.

However, for practicality, just use the plate you intend to eat off of.

I don't generally put food on the counter, because I don't feel like cleaning it obsessively. That said, if I do get food on it, I will clean the counter right away. It's not an unsanitary festering mess, the worst it's got on it is dust.

I don't use paper towels, I prepare my sandwiches of rare delicacies on 100% undyed cashmere woolsheets I then use to wipe my mouth with and dispose.

<--- counterexample.

I make my sandwiches on a plate that I'm going to eat on and my apartment is a mess.

I think its the other way around.

If your clean you know your counters are clean so putting somethng down on them is ok

If you are NOT clean then you will use a plate / napkin b/c your know your shit is germ infested and the CDC will be busting in any minute.

Let me get drunk first before I discuss this topic with you. It will make more sense that way.

Exactly, I use the cutting board or the plate...
