Odd Driver problem

Well, I swapped out my 9700tx, put in my 9700pro and ran driver cleaner. When i tried to install the catalysts it told me

"Please install a standard VGA driver then..."

Something like that. Telling me to install a vga driver before installing the cats.

I tried the omega's and the same thing happend.

Any ideas?

Which version of windows do you have? I have had that happen with Windows 9x before. You need a standard generic vga driver installed before ATI's drivers. Use Device Manager to install a generic pci video driver.

I had that happen when i removed my nv drivers and tried to install my 9800p. I remember something about trying to install in safe mode through device manager, and then rebooting a few times and it automatically eventually autodetected my 9800p and installed the generic drivers. I suspected windows just fixed itself automatically and went upon my way. I dont exactly remember what i did directly before, just try messing with those ideas above like i did and u should come upon the answer.
