Odd driver behaviour, how can this be?

This is utterly weird, but seems to be the case. I have my mouse and keyboard connected to a USB hub in my monitor that is connected to the computer. I leave the monitor on (but without input, so it turns off the lamp and leaves the USB hub on while the computer is in S3 sleep)

With my 7900GS and the 8800GTS 512, coming out of sleep mode, the keyboard will and the mouse will not, until I turned my monitor on and off (power cycling its usb hub) and waited for them to be redetected.

Since I got my 4850 this is no longer the case (uninstall nvidia drivers, restarted, put in AMD card, installed AMD drivers, that is IT). The mouse and keyboard both work right out of sleep mode with no messing about.

Has there been a windows update patch in the past 2 days that just happened to address this problem? could this POSSIBLY be related to my video card? something else I am missing?
