Odd component video problem with Wii

I've got the white Monoprice component cables for my Wii. They seem to work great on one of my HDTVs, however I moved the Wii to the bedroom and some odd problems appeared.

When I first turn on the Wii sometimes you can still see the warning press A to continue screen's text before the Wii menu loads up. It seems to fade away, but remains on the screen briefly before the Menu appears (normally its just a brief black screen). When I turn the Wii off a green horizontal bar flashes across the top of the screen before the TVs display bar appears saying no signal (it only lasts a split sec before the normal display bar appears).

It only seems to do it on the smaller bedroom HDTV, and once the Wii gets to the Menu there are no more video problems and everything looks fine (just video errors on start up and shut down on the console).

Could it be the Monoprice cables even if they work on my other HDTV? I hooked a few other devices up to the component ports (DVD, etc...) on the bedroom HDTV and didn't notice anything like the Wii is doing on start up or shut down.

I tried the Wii on the bedroom HDTV with the standard composite cables and it was fine. I've thought about picking up the Nintendo brand component cables, but I don't want to if it want make any difference over the Monoprice ones. Its obviously a problem with the way the Wii sends a signal over component to this TV.

It doesn't disrupt gaming, but its annoying to see on start up and shut down of the Wii. Will this harm the HDTV in the bedroom? Any ideals of things to try? Should I buy the Nintendo brand cables?

I highly doubt this is an issue with the cables you purchased. Honestly, I'd say it's either a problem with the Wii itself (that, for some reason, isn't exhibiting itself on your other TV), or (more likely) it is a problem with the TV itself. Composite input is a different part of the TV than the component input, so both probably don't have issues.

The issue is probably the TV itself. Have you tried any other devices that run at 480p via component? There might be a similar occurrence.

At any rate, there is almost no risk of damaging your TV from a 'faulty' component input signal. If you can deal with minor issues, it shouldn't be a problem.

I've tried both component inputs on the TV and have the same result with the Wii. I have tried a older progressive scan DVD player over component, and it works fine on both inputs.

Component input 1 also doubles as Video input 1 for composite with this TV. When I use this input with composite cables on the Wii I have no problems. When I switch out the cables for component using this input, or use Component input 2 on the TV I have the video problems with the Wii.

I wouldn't worry about it.... sounds like a combination of how the Wii is changing video signals and how the TV handles the transitions.
