odd characters on the web

Anyway, somehow the characters ( 'v ) and ( 't ) have been replaced on my puter with some oriental characters ( ?v ) and ( ?t ). Using Win XP Home and I'm not familiar with the way to change these back to normal. It's not when I type, it's on websites like FlightSim Com and others, where there is text. this doesnt happen when i go to these sites with my other system...
