This started happening more recently... basically, my Ubuntu 16.04 system will turn itself on shortly after one of my other computers is powered up. I looked in BIOS just to check to see if there were any wake events configured but there aren't.

The second part of this is that the system doesn't seem to complete the POST; the screen just goes to no signal and then to standby. If I do a hard restart, the POST completes and I can then select boot options for the OS and it will boot up just fine. However, if I do a regular restart through the OS, the same thing will happen again (black screen to no signal) thus, I must do a hard restart again.

AMD 7870K APU w/ R7 graphics
Gigabyte F2A88XN-WIFI (F6 BIOS)
8GB Corsair DDR3-1600
PNY 240GB SSD
TFX power supply 300w

I may just try to clear the CMOS and replace the battery but the only other issue I can remember having with this setup is that the APU seemed to freeze up a lot, which prompted swapping to a 5400 and flashing the BIOS in order to get it to work. That was at least a year or so ago though, so I figured it was fine now. Does anyone have any thoughts?

just an update but this seemed to clear up on its own. I tried powering up the computer one day and got nothing; no lights or fans.

changed UPS sockets and it started up fine, stayed that way ever since. weird.
