On several occasions now when the system is first started up, there will be no display on the monitor. There are no extra beeps from the system, just the normal single one and it seems like bootup is happening normally, as indicated by the hdd led. There is just no display of it on the monitor.
When I hit ctrl-alt-del I get the menu screen for selecting safe mode and it is on the safe mode choice (#3 I think) and won't allow another choice to be selected.

I go into safe mode and do a restart and everything is normal. It has also done this same thing and just went straight to the safe mode choice screen without needing the ctrl-alt-del. Again, went into safe mode and did a restart and everything was ok.

What does this sound like? While in safe mode and in normal I have checked the device manager and there are no indicators of a problem.

Running Win98se, Visiontek G3 Ti-200 w/ Nvidia 23.11's

I'll take a shot: Try updating your monitor's drivers. Visit their website.

It's a good first step.

Considering his PC is not even POSTING drivers would be worthless. Sounds like something with either the main board or AGP Card. Try putting that Vid card on another machine. THAT is a good first start.

Um, his machine is POSTing fine. That's what the single beep at bootup means! I would also suggest to get newer drivers from the manufacturer.
