Odd bandwidth behavior at hotel

I'm staying in a hotel/suite for the next few months and their internet is giving me all kinds of problems. I can't seem to get any decent speeds via HTTP. Even google takes a few seconds to come up. However, I'm torrenting a VM appliance at 150k+. What gives?
 
Your torrent is likely eating up all the sessions and upload on the customer side of the router so you are wrecking the performance of everything else.
