Odd artifacting on a new PNY 6800GT

Brand new right out of the box in an Athlon64 2800+ rig. It seems like one or more colors are being replaced with flickering pink. The result is sometimes a pink halo around light sources or pink squigglies on photographs.

Is there anything for me to try before RMAing the card? Using 66.81. Was using the latest production driver on Nvidia's site with the same results.

Card is hosed. Either it can't run at it's default speed and is artifcating (you can test this by installing a GT bios/down clocking) or thier is some short across PCB. RMA is right.

Well, RMA'd the card. Then got that $164 Dell I ordered and hooked it up and..........the pink artifacting was still there. So, I just RMA'd my 6 month old VP171B. Now I'm using an 8MB video card and a cheap Envision 19" CRT with a round panel.

It's too much of a coincidence. The monitor gets permanently screwed up the second I plug in the 6800GT. That implies that the card killed the monitor! Is that even possible?

Anyway, I'll be using my computer as little as possible until I get them both back. I can do without gaming for a couple weeks, but I miss my LCD terribly.
