The card crashes in the middle of the driver installation. not a hard crash, but when the screen normally goes black for a second, it turns off, comes back on, turns off, comes back on, and keeps doing this. it eventually crashes completely. during any reboots after that, it will act in EXTREMELY slow motion and draw about 3 frames per minute, but without artifacts (well, the parts that are actually drawn are artifact-free). I have to go into safe mode (which works normally) and remove the drivers for this to stop. I did a little test and played some music while the drivers installed and it played in jumps untill it finally crashed hard.

i tried to install a fresh xp install, but it gave a BSOD during the first setup portion, right after it loaded all the drivers.

not sure what's going on here. the card has no problems before the graphics drivers are installed. having the power connector plugged in or not does not affect this at all.
