I think the 810 is a rebadged BenQ 1640, which is a really good drive. The 820 is a BenQ 1670, which I've heard is a so-so/fair drive. I think all the drives before the 810, like DRU-800 are Lite-on.

Thanks oslama...

I finally found one today. Rang up $47.04 or maybe $47.03 like you said. I had a $10 off $50 coupon that Office Depot mailed me. I tried to add a $2.99 cardboard box as filler, but the coupon excludes technology stuff. Cashier tried to scan it, but it wouldn't go through.

Grrrrrrrr~~~~ to you Office Depot!

Anyways this is a good deal. I used my Sony Card, so I can get reimbursed through the Sony Points.

If you guys like BenQ recorders, you should stock up. The 1640/1650/1655 was the last BenQ design it seems, since they got bought out by Lite-on.

This is one of the few DVD burners that can overburn DVD+R, and probably one of the best made.

[*]Overburns DVD+R
[*]Does PIF/PIO quality scans
[*]Bitsets DVD+R/+RW
[*]Overspeeds + learning strategy

But you need to flash back to BenQ firmware to do the above.
