First of all welcome smigs and what a great way to contribute with your great find.

You might have watched the several phone realted threads lately.
This is for reference only and has nothing against you ;).
****************

I got an open box one plus an extra handset for $75, but probably will return it.
Being spoiled by the quality of Cybergenie, the handset seems (is) quite clumsy. It is much larger and thicker. It is also way heavier.

And it has a zillion units to do the functionality of the Siemens for instance.
One unit is just for caller ID, the other is just a transmitter, then there is the basephonestation, and the charging/resting station for the Handset .
All these have their own power supplies (4 in all!!) and must be connected sepeartely to the phone lines!

This is targeted at simple small office phone setups with much wiring space.
I'll probably give it to a friend of mine who has a small office, this would be the ideal late Xmas gift for him.

Thanks for the great find, smigs!

Well immortalis, for those of us who can't get in on the Siemens Cybergenie deal, (as it's a pretty rare find), this PBX is perfect.

I've purchased a total of 3 now, and my house is now set up with extensions for every room. (I'm definitely *NOT* going to use at least one of the base units, and two of the caller ID servers, so those are headed for E*Bay.)

So on behalf of those who did get in on this fantastic deal, thanks smigs!

Just an FYI for everyone: coverage plans are for suckers!!! Stores like CompUSA will sell you coverage plans until they're blue in the face, because guess what? IT'S ALL PROFIT (at least most of it)! I don't know if any of you realize this but there are departments in corporations such as this where their whole job is to use statistics to derive pricing for these "coverage plans" to make the most money possible (kind of like insurance companies where that's ALL all they do- and you don't see them going out of business). Not only are they selling you a piece of paper agreeing to cover an item (which costs them nothing at the point of sale), but they are also not worried about covering an item because they KNOW coverage plans are only exercised about 5% of the time, if not less. So guess what, you're just handing money over to the greedy bastards who are rich and, thanks to people who fall for CRAP like coverage plans, are getting richer. Keep that in mind the next time a "certified product specialist" is trying to entice you into getting that "coverage plan". The salesmen get "spiffs" and the company gets more money because of your stupidity. When I worked at CompUSA, the management had the following mantra: "TAP, TAP, TAP (Total Assurance Plan)!" Why? Because that's where they make their margins! Here's a question: Why are companies in business? Answer: To make money, and lots of it. To maximize profits. They are not altruistic.

By the way the reason for this tirade is because I saw someone earlier in this thread buy a coverage plan. I'm not trying to insult that individual's intelligence- just trying to help out my fellow bargain hunters.

Rab, I agree that this phone system is a great deal, maybe even better for some than the CG. I just tried to point out the differences for undecided people.

After my friend got them for $29.88 too, I went back to my local OD and they checked again and returned me the difference.
The handset was new, and they gave that for free for my "troubles".

BTW the SKU for the handset station ($20) is 812820, but because of all the things you get with the basestation, it is really better to get one of those.

I then told about this to my friends and they got some today here in LA and Southern California. And for $30 this is an unbeatable deal for them too.

Thanks again smigs also in the name of my friends.

Hey vedder00, normally I think the coverage plan is for suckers, but the Manager told me if I take the coverage plan he would lower the price to 20, and the plan was 6, so I came out ahead by 3.44, otherwise he would have charged me the 29.44 for its.

I actually found an OD that still has the display unit. It's out with the other phones like they still sell it. I asked and indeed they no longer have any in the box. I asked if I could buy the display, and the guy said that it's a "non-working" display. I looked it over and it seemed "real" enough to me. Can anyone verify that the display is indeed a dummy unit?
