I understand that the synapse provides automatic caching for a large hdd significantly increasing the speed. I see the value for existing systems wanting a boost. My question is since I'm building a new system and will place my most most used programs/ OS on a vertex 3 would I truly see any significant difference in performance? About a 50 dollar diff at microcenter. It will also be used for Lightroom scratch disk. Thanks!

If you already intend on putting everything you use regularly on the SSD then no. The cache would speed up access of files you pick up and put down often but then you'll probably put them on the SSD. So no IMO.

The cache is meant for someone with a 250-2TGB single HDD system, half filled with crap. I know of a dozen bogged down cluttered systems that need an SSD cache, but they run win xp and I cannot find out whether or not they can run the caching software.

Thanks for the feedback. That's kind of what I was thinking, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.
