Ocz Vertex Battery life

I'm thinking about putting in a OCZ 60GB Vertez drive into my new E5400 when it arrives next week. Are their any known problems with SSD drives in the E5400 laptops? Also does installing one of these increase battery life?

i was looking at the X18-M and quite honestly it seemed to use about as much as a comparable 1.8" hard drive during use - less at spin-up (obviously) and little bit less at idle.

since the startup is so fast you could go aggressive like power down drive in 1min and not have it be a pita like a real drive.

but for the most part they don't save a huge lot of power based on my experience - and i'm talking intel but i'm guessing most of the parts are common flash that eat power so that is static.

What is the best SSD drive for $180-220? I have the 80GB intel in my desktop but I don't want to spend that much for my new laptop.

The Vertex uses less power than the X25-M during: idle, load, read, writes, and both use considerably less than a 5400RPM hard drive.

Aw that's good to know. Now I'm thinking about the Crucial 64 GB SSD drive. It looks to be as fast as the OCZ Vertex drive plus its about $40-50 cheaper.

You also might take a look at the new OCZ Solid 2 series drives. They use the same Indilinx controller as the Agility and Vertex drives and use Intel 34nm flash. They have had very good prices lately relative to the Vertex/Agility. 120GB was $263.99 after rebate and Bing cash back while the 60GB was $146.59 after rebate and Bing cash back earlier this week. Even though it's "rated" slower than the Agility/Vertex, it has actually scored on par or higher than both of those drives, even when run head to head.

No no 🙂 I wish its just the 60GB version. Amazon has them for $217 shipped.
