I have the chance to grab one for $120 from a friend. He has one that he hasn't used and wants to sell it to me. I've read the reviews, but are they really worth it? They don't suffer the stutter that JMicron SSDs do right? I am seriously thinking of this as a OS drive. Would go nice with the rest of my system I think. Any thoughts as to why I shouldn't upgrade? I already have 4 HDDs and my OS / program drive is a 640GB WD Caviar Black.
 
I wouldn't risk it. Why is he selling it without using it? Maybe he read some OCZ forums and got scared of the probalems? I would only consider Intel at this point. There's like two threads about the Vertex drives already, didn't that give you enough info?
 
Me likes the $2/GB aspect of the deal. For $120 I'd buy it just as a hobby write-off.

If after playing with it as an OS drive and then a program install drive (for fast game and app loads, but not dealing with OS crappage) and you still felt it wasn't worth using then just ebay it and get nearly all (if not all) of your $120 back.

If $120 is more than you'd consider "hobby money" then definitely don't do it, no matter the performance level you'll likely have buyer's remorse when you see what's released in 6 months and buyer's remorse is to be avoided at all costs.
 
Considering I am doing WC set up as a hobby, I don't think $120 is much for me. >_< I couldn't resist the deal. I will have to try it out when I get back from vacation next weekend.
 
Bare minimum you are looking at $170+shipping AR with the 60GB so you are getting a pretty good deal.

The 74GB Raptor in 2002 was $250 to get a comparison in pricing.
