From Dealcatcher:
Amazon has this OCZ Technology RevoDrive Hybrid 1 TB Solid State Drive for $229.99 after instant savings and this $100 mail-in-rebate. Shipping is free. Newegg has this same drive for $299.99. It features a 600,000 hours MTBF life expectancy, has a max read speed of 910 MB/s and a max write speed of 810 MB/s. (Expires 03/31/12)

Don't forget tax, which only makes it about $40 less than Newegg... I've always received rebates from OCZ, but this $100 make me a little nervous! However, this seems like a very fast and easy solution as a boot drive AND plenty of room for apps and games! I was going to get a 60gb SSD as a cache for my Z68 mobo, but this Revo is very tempting since it's faster...

Also, not sure when it ships as site says, "2-3 weeks". As far as purchase date concerning rebate expiration, contact them before purchasing! I assume the purchase date is the day you ordered...but double check! I haven't seen many reviews, as this is a relatively new technology. It's surprisingly fast according to the reviews I've read. NOT FOR NOTEBOOKS!

A couple of tips for you:

If you are going to post a 'Hot Deal', it would be nice to include the link to it.

Also, you said the $100 mail in rebate, link to that too?

Amazon says 2-3 weeks for shipping so take that into account as well.

how weird to have a deal like this and not be able to ship for 2 weeks... do they bill you before shipping so that the rebate is valid?

I pulled the trigger on this. I had a 256gb crucial m4 ssd I had just ordered from neweggbusiness.com with that 15% discount for 280$. For 20$ more I can have 1tb and it's faster. Seems like a no brainer to me. I still had time to cancel the crucial. Thanks OP! Plus, I can use my 10$ GC I got for 5$ a few days ago! I got the 2 day ship for 3$ more.

Ok. I just had a scare. You can NOT find the rebate through the link on the rebate form, which you HAVE to do, through normal means. It says 'NOT FOUND' for that code! Also, I went through all 8 pages of it's SSD list and it's not there! I had to do advanced search and put in the model number and THEN it shows up! JUST FYI!!!! YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR REBATE UNLESS YOU DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH!

Since it's not really a 1 TB SSD and the Amazon reviews are not very favorable, you might be better off getting a Seagate Momemntus XT 750 GB SSD hybrid for $175 at newegg:

That's a hybrid drive. This one is insanely fast compared to that and it's a 1TB drive (not SSD, better actually in terms of speed) just as much as any other. They all are estimates. It's close enough.

As for the reviews, there are only 3: 2 1 star and 1 5. The one star was corrected as they guy had a problem with his system but fixed it but not the review. The other guy was using it as a primary boot partition, which I wouldn't use this drive for personally. I think the technology is too new and, no offense to MS, but I don't trust windows to be up to speed with the MOBO MF or these PCI drive solutions for a boot partition. I have a nice 60GB SSD boot partition. My bottleneck is my primary drive which this will now nicely replace. I may get burned, but I don't think so. I'll follow up with my review on amazon and link to it when I get it.

This deal is for a Hybrid drive as well. The difference is, it has a PCI-E interface rather than a SATA interface. But they are both "hybrid" drives, neither one is an SSD.

Here's another new option that just came out recently:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820233262

Corsair Accelerator Series CSSD-C60GB 2.5" 60GB SATA II Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

It's a nice option for those that already have a large Mechanical hard drive as their primary and you simply add this nice 60GB SSD to your system and it essentially makes it a hybrid drive as well and more stable and compatible.

Not a bad option for $99.00

;)

Yeah, mjeer you better cancel that buy and go for the Crucial M4. $299 for 1TB of solid state would literally be too good to be true. You know the cardinal rule!!!

Amazon reviews are pretty bad for it, I guess these "hybrid drives" don't cut it. I'm waiting for a SSD deal for a 250GB or bigger drive that has really good reviews and priced at less then $200. I might be waiting awhile......

I cancelled it. Second drive I've cancelled. I didn't see the hybrid. I know I know.... :(
It actually sounded pretty good once I read up on it. Outside of that guy with the one star review I thought it sounded decent. I might be regretting it.... we'll see. I'm wanting a decent second drive. They have that OCZ 240gb at microcenter for 205$ after coupon and MIR. That doesn't seem bad.

The concept isn't bad, and $230AR is a pretty decent price for a 1TB drive with 100GB of MLC flash. Two things kill it though, the PCIe slot and the ridiculous DRM on the software. PCIe makes sense for a normal RevoDrive where the SATA interface is a bottleneck, but this thing isn't nearly that fast. Most people have plenty of of 3.5" bays, so a normal form factor would be much better.

For faster-than-platter bulk storage, the Momentus only has 8 GB of flash but unlike all of the others it doesn't need a driver running. If you put your Steam folder there it would cache whatever games you're currently playing.

Lukewarm review of this drive: http://www.techspot.com/review/454-ocz-revodrive-hybrid//QUOTE]

Holy cow! I'm glad I cancelled. I read that article. Look at this one line!!! This is nuts!!

"The RevoDrive Hybrid can only be used as a primary boot drive at this point. Dataplex will only select C:\ as the primary storage drive, while any others can be set as the cache drive."

WHAT!??!?! FORCED TO BE BOOT DRIVE?! The main reason I wanted this was NOT as my primary partition. Glad I cancelled. Thanks guys! What shit! WTF does this have to be primary? That is crazy!
