OCZ Solid 3 blue screening

My OCZ Solid keeps blue screening. After a lot of casual observation, I think it has something to do with voltage spikes.

OCZ is telling me to do a firmware upgrade. There is only 1 update since my shipping firmware,

Unfortunately, it is my boot and gaming drive.

Before I do this (going to attempt a USB flash) has anyone else upgraded firmware on this drive and did it help with this issue.

BTW, That's my only complaint about this drive, though it's a big one. Speed wise, i have benched it several times and it really is super fast. I am just tired of the random crashes.

Hi,

Yes - I recommend you update to the 2.15 fw, It includes many key fixes (following input from Intel). I have updated my V3 to 2.15.

The Linux based tools are very easy to use.

If you haven't already you should implement the latest BIOS for your mobo and use the latest Intel RST Sata driver as listed by Asus for your mobo.

Thanks. I havent tried to do this type of BIOS upgrade (from a bootable thumb drive) before, so I am a little nervous.

My mobo bios is current. I'll look into the SATA driver.

the Linux tool is just parted magic and is extremely easy to do once you get through the instructional learning curve of the tutorial. Very much easier than it looks if you can get past the gfx card driver issues that some see with your card.

there is also the possibilty of success with another Intel driver besides the ones listed at ASUS but is just trial and error at times. Then there's the newer Enterprise versions to try as well. This is just a quick link and not sure where to find the English version.. but gives you a quick lead to pursue anyhow. Good luck with it all.
