OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2-800

This is sweet ram. I just bought 4 gigs for my new computer. The heatsinks are awesome looking.

One caution: the rebate only gives you 12 days from the date of your purchase (which includes weekends)! I ordered the ram Friday night, got it Tuesday after work... 12-4= 8 days left...+ another weekend = 6 days to get the rebate sent off. By the time I had the computer built (and made sure the ram worked) the rebate had already expired. Silly me for assuming that rebates were generally 30 days from the date of purchase...

how they worthy to buy and get rebate?

I've had 2 rebates with them without any problems. A few months ago for a flash drive and about a year and a half ago for some ddr memory.

My rebate experience was bad with OCZ. Mailed the rebate in, but they insist I didn't do it before the deadline. I am very timely with all my rebates. Unfortunately, I didn't mail it with some sort of tracking - ie certified mail - because I've never had any problem with any other company. And to spend an additional $2 for certified mail to get $10 back is ridiculous. Anyway, the short of it is, if you want to deal with their rebate, keep a copy of everything and mail with priority/certified mail.

The timing seems soso compare to their other premium sets. I recently bought a 2x1gb DDR1066 SLI edition and that set is running DDR900, 5-5-5-15@ only 1.8v! This set I see a guy put it at DDR854 using 2.1v doesn't sound too impressive.

I've had that happen recently with OCZ. Bought from Frys.com and besides the normal shipping time, I wasn't around to receive it and so DHL just held on to it until I called them up and rescheduled a delivery time. UNFORTUNATELY... according to the OCZ rebate form, "The rebate request must be postmarked within twelve (12) days (including weekends) from date of purchase to qualify." I think they save a lot of money on rebates because of this.

My most recent Crucial rebate (unfortunately for some DOA Ballistix) gave 30 days from purchase date. My most recent Corsair rebate also gave 30 days.

yeah.. 35 mir.. i try to stay away from big MIR items now. Got almost $300 in rebates took almost 4 months to clear it up.

i got Patriot Viper cas 4-4-4 for $79 After $10 rebate at zipzoomfly. Those are some sweet design memory.. looks sick in the system!

I've no desire to run OCZ RAM. From various listings here, OCZ seems to have massive compatibility problems, and their rated speed seems to always be at 2.1V. That means sucky overclocking if that's your thing. It also means problems posting/booting with many MBs.

These 4GB Reaper kits are 1.8v at 800MHz, CAS 5. That's 100% standard JEDEC specs.

Went to their site, and lo and behold, you are correct. Perhaps all those forum notations complaining about their 2.1V incompatibilities caused them to upgrade their specs. (Not just here, but in many forums).

In any case, this particular OCZ RAM looks smokin.

I had something similar happen to me. I had 14 days to get the rebate postmarked. You're right < 30 days is stupid short. I'm going to be avoiding OCZ rebates in the future.

12 days? You've got to be kidding me! Haven't seen such short postmark after purchase requirements since Office Max with their 14 day cutoff for rebates....which is why I quit shopping OM for anything with attached rebates.

What a racket! Imagine buying this RAM on a Friday.....and it goes out Fri. evening.....but UPS doesn't count that as a shipping day, nor any weekend day. So, you get the RAM on the following Tues or Wed. Already lost 5-6 days since you bought it on a Friday. Now you have a week to make sure it works in what you want it to......heaven help you if you've got a motherboard coming from another source or cpu.

??? I did.

You list it as "$66 shipped". It's actually $101.98 shipped, with hoops to jump through to get 35.98 back. Edit: And even if you jump through them correctly, it's a crapshoot if you get that money back!

Not hot.

<---another not so happy with OCZ rebate.

OCZ purposedly allow a small window to mail your rebate. That means any small hitch or delay in shipping will cause the rebate to be invalidated. In my case UPS guy did not find me home, thus returned it to distribution center instead of taking it to apartment office. Yellow slip nowhere to be found (most likely fell off and blown away). By the time I figured it out via online tracking and got the package it was too late. I know others had problem when after their order, were given a backorder email notice. When the ram became available shortly thereafter, shipped, and arrived to their door the rebate expired.
