OCZ RAM, Gold, Platinum or Titanium?

I need some help, 1GB or 2GB OCZ Ram so confusing.

Which is better out of these? Overclocked and/or non Overclocked

A8N-SLI Prem. mobo, say's I need PC3200 184 Pin unbuff. least I want is 1GB.

To play games and do other misc stuff.

BF2 is the only game I heard of that uses 2 GB of RAM. So, 1 GB (me thinks). 🙂

Anyway, as far as brand/type, I just ordered Corsair DC ValueSelect 1GB (2x512) PC3200 CL2.5 DDR Memory (VS1GBKIT400).

For 1GB total, check out the PC3200 EL Platinum Rev 2. For 2GB, check out the PC3200 EL Platinum if you want to run stock, or the PC4000 EL Gold if you want to overclock.

OCZ Platinum 2-3-2-5 2x1GB is what I just got and a I like it.

I lost a whopping 1fps cause I have to run this RAM at stock speeds instead of the 236mhz 2-2-2-7 I had my VX running.

Will PC4000 work in my mobo?

Titanium is better then Platinum? It's more expensive at egg.

So Gold is better for overclocking?

Thanks I'm so confused with all the choices.

Dont get Titanium. You will get the same performance out of PC3200 Platinum.

PC4000 will work, your RAM will just run at PC3200 until you start to overclock. PC4000 is rated at a higher speed. Platinum will only give around 30mhz overclock if you dumb down the timings to 2.5-3-3-7 for example. With PC4000 you cna run at higher clock and still keep the specified timings.

How far are you planniong to overclock? The 2x1GB OCZ EL PLatinum overclocks like crap.

if you are going with 2x512MB then get the OCZ PLatinum Rev.2 This RAM overclocks very well.

I'd suggest going with the cheapest 2GB kit like I did... I haven't gotten it yet, but I can tell you it's CAS3 timings, and it doesn't matter because timings are of little importance anymore.
For OCing, upping the FSB does a lot more than having CAS2 vs CAS3 RAM... CAS2 does yield small improvements, but is not worth the added $ IMHO. That's just me.

Sheesh, who would want Titanium RAM for a gaming computer? Titanium RAM is for servers that need maximum reliability and error-free memory.

Yeah the Titanium is ECC memory, and that's just a waste of money for you. The OCZ Gold VX will probably overclock the best as far as OCZ memory goes. I have the Platinum Rev. 2 and it overclocks very well also for being a 2x1GB kit.

The Asus board being an AMD board, timings really aren't that important with the AMD cpu having it's memory controller onboard. So basically, get the cheapest, cause you won't really get a lot of ectra performance by blowing cash on more expensive ram

So the 2GB kit Platinum or Value is the best bet, I'm seeing prices of $180 to $260+. Best go with 2GB for future programs.
