OCZ Rally 2 Flash Drive USB 2.0 Issues.

My wonderful 4GB Rally 2 was working great.

However, starting yesterday, USB 2.0 ports stopped recognizing it. When I plug it into my Logitech G15 Keyboard USB ports, which run at 1.1 speeds, the drive is easily recognized.

However when trying it across various computers, from my current Vista Ultimate X64 to my roommate's XP MCE, to my girlfriend's Macbook, the USB ports don't recognize it. This wasn't the case previously, as all the USB ports worked fine. Yet, my G15 is still reading it at 1.1 speeds.

I tried reformatting it using NFTS, FAT32, FAT, and the formatting tool off the website as well, to no avail.

I haven't done anything different outside of my normal use procedures (transfering class notes off my girlfriend's mac onto my computer) that I could think of, so I'm not sure what's up.

I was wondering if anyone has any idea of what could be happening?

Well, if you're absolutely sure the ports on the motherboard are fully functional and experiencing problems with the thumb-drive being recognized, then the drive has gone bad. RMA is in order, I guess. I don't think there is (or should be) a rocket science for USB flash drives.

Steve,

It seems the 4GB version is receiving reviews on new egg reporting a good amount of failures. Is newegg still allowing newegg to sell the defective drives or has this problem been resolved? I would love to buy this drive but the reviews are worrying me. Any advice?

I haven't heard of them selling bad drives, but I'll check into it. I wouldn't worry...just go ahead and buy it :)

Man, now that's the kind of customer service that makes me glad I've got a 2GB Rally 2.0 of my own on its way over. :)

Have you actually tried it or just read online that it may not be compatible? I got the 2gb OCZ Rally2 last week from Newegg and it works great for Readyboost in Vista Ultimate 32bit.
