OCZ posting fake review?

I was surfing for a pit and came across this little gem http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/02/28/ocz_fake_reviews/

Now I really want to know is it really cheaper to deal with RMA bad reviews etc. Than just hiring some QC people and a few extra engineers to make good firmware. OCZ reviews have been better on the forums recently this could be the cause.

lol.. ok, I'll bite.

yes.. profit margins can actually increase despite some thinking that the majority of SSD buyers are most interested in stability.

Lowest priced and fastest rated tech will always sell well regardless of the reviews. Plus, it's not like 75% of them are failing and some people simply think(or gamble) that they have a shot at a non-issue install on their new build. Then there's the sheer volume of sizes/models to fit into just about every niche out there. Add to that the fact that OCZ has some of the largest vendor distribution networks in the industry?.. and it's easy to see how they can "get by" on numbers alone.

And the main reason that you see things looking up is because of the bulk of Sandforce 2281 issues being resolved. Makes perfect sense when you figure that OCZ was selling the P outta those controllers. Would literally take a team of "review bolstering" undercover agents to make any real impact on such a large overall product review. Anywho, I always thought it best to add a little salt to the very best reviews nearly the same as the worst when you're looking for averages, right?

I wouldn't put it past them

I'd go as far to say OCZ is the least trustworthy name in technology. I've only owned two of their products, RAM and a PSU.. BOTH ended up dead.. and maybe its just me, but no matter what forum I'm on or browsing there seem to be an inordinate amount of dead OCZ products going around.

that source is like the enquirer of the internet.

Anyone taking it hook line and sinker.. is either hungry to take the bait?.. or deserving of a bull**** sandwich. :whiste:

Did you even read the article? Respectable German publications have reported on the story as well.

The thing is, there is no way of knowing whether it was some idiot who works for OCZ who decided to just go out and 'promote' his/her company, or whether the company directed the person to do so. I would think that the appearance of messing with reviews is far worse than the occasional real bad review...if OCZ didn't direct this themselves, and they find who did it, they're going to be out of a job shortly.
