as the title shows, which brand of memory should i get for my new build? its gona be 2x1gb, and pc-6400, paired with an e6600 and the evga 680i mobo. Should i go for the ocz (and if so, what do all the different ones mean, ex gold, silver, platium, titanium) or the corsair xms2???

i think memory chip type is more important than brand name. Do some research on a particular model and understand what the ram chip is capable of b4 buying.🙂 Sometimes u can get a fabulous overclock on ram that isnt brand name but is the same chip type.

my friend insists on the ocz, the set with the "titinium" heatsinks. they have them at newegg for the same price as teh corsair, but tehre are no reviews. what do u guys think?

I heard that if you go for the OCZ RAM, go with the platinum sticks, I don't know if the other ones have reliablity problems though. I have Corsair RAM now and it works fine.

I own both. Both work fine, both overclock great. Corsair looks a bit nicer in a windowed case. However, Corsair is overpriced even more than all the other DDR2 out there......you're definitely paying a premium, and without much to justify it.

Corsair is probably more "extreme" for overclockers, but is also a fair bit more money. Corsair's the Lamborghini, OCZ is the Ferrari 😉
