OCZ Modstream Vs Powerstream

Can someone please tell me what the difference between the powerstreams and the modstreams are? Thanks

With the Powerstream you get OCZ's best power supplies.

With the Modstream, you get slightly less powerfull PSU's with module cables.

You will see pictures of a Modstream.

Basicly, it allows you to remove the cables coming from the PSU so you can get rid of the ones you dont need.

Modular cables are ... well .... I have to start by explaining what a non-modular cable is.
Non modular cables mean ALL the cables come right out of your power supply. You can't get rid of them, but you can hide them.
With a modular power supply, say you want to plug in a fan. Your PSU comes with seperate cables, and you plug the cable into the fan and into the power supply. You can take out that cable from the power supply if you want.

Back to the original question:
Powerstream is designed for tigher voltage regulation. You don't get Active PFC (Power Fault Correction), no modular cables, but you get a performance power supply designed for overclockers who need extremely stable voltages. It does have a nice green glow though 😀. This comes with manually adjustable rails, an overclocker's dream tool (for power supplies) - if one rail is sagging there's a knob on your PSUthat allows you to finetune it and fix it. Also, this has a 5 year warantee.

Modstream is an excellent PSU if you're concened about Aesthetics. Modular, Active PFC, Blue Lights, UV Reactive cables. You'll get a little more voltage ripples, but definately nothing to worry about. 3 year warantee.

If you're not an extreme overclocker, get the Modstream. A cheaper alternative to the Modstream is the Fortron BlueStorm. It's not modular, but it's cheaper.

your help is much appreciated i plan to OC my 3000+ venice as much as i can and i don't really believe in skimping on power supplies... thanks guys

Is powerstream very loud though? It has a 80mm or 92mm fan right? Definitely not a 120mm like Modstream..

Quiet for sure. One of the quietest you can get (besides the S12 and the PCP&C Silencers).

It is very quiet, and very powerful. Probably the most powerful consumer grade. PCP&C and Zippy are worlds ahead of it, and have that industrial touch to them.

Pentium Guy... PFC is Power Factor Correction, not fault 😛

Is the Modstream EPS12V compliant? It seems to have a 8 pin connector that you can construct out of 4 pin connectors. It looks like the right type.

Officially, only the powerstream is EPS12V compliant, but does the modstream have unofficial EPS12V support?

I like the modstream its cheap and modular cables which is a very nice to have.
