I can't decide between which to get. The OCZ Modstream 450W or the fortron Bluestorm 500W. Either one would be powering this:

6600GT (PCIe)
Athlon 64 3000+
Foxconn NF4 Ultra
1x 120 gig barracuda
4 80 mm fans

Both are solid PSU's. If they're about the same price, get which ever one has more +12V amps.

I would go with Fortron if for no other reason than have been in the PSU business for over twenty years. And it has passive PFC.

I agree with either, but the Fortron is not modular is it?
that's the one benefit with the OCZ, modular power.

It's a nice unit, I have it.

WHy not the powerstream 520 with adjustable rails?? Its only a little more so you can be dead on with voltages. Thats the whole point of having a good PSU right? to have the stability. With the modular thing, you end up using all the cables anyway, so that is not an impressive selling point for me. Whyhave the MOBO connector that can be removed from psu? Like you will NOT ever need that one? eh.....

with the Modstream the ATX connetor is hard-wired

the X-connect has the modular ATX connector.

however there ARE uses for it, as I've been working in my system and had to move it... sometimes it's easier to take it off from the PSU side as opposed to the mobo side. I like the modular ATX connector... definitely useful, but not necessary.

The OCZ Modstream's mobo connectors are not modular.

Cable sleeving / modularization is never a selling point with me. I always end up redoing it anyway. I want UV blue sleeving and UV blue heatshrink damn it! And UV Blue connectors, or black if uv blue is not available.

I have the Bluestorm and it has worked great for me. It looks good, sounds great (very quiet), and I like the sleeving.

Either would be excellent. I went with the Fortron as it seemed to have more good and less bad said about it than the OCZ in the comments I saw. Not a scientific way to select, but it was the best I could do in the available time.
