OCZ Gold 6GB on Gigabyte 770 should work?

I have a friend that tried to put the 6GB Kit designed for a "Intel X58 chipset core i7" into his AMD Gigabyte 770 mobo. I told him it should work when he got it but he is only able to boot with 2 stick installed. It dosen't matter which two sticks, but as soon as he puts in the third it will blue screen on start up. I knew that 3 sticks would not be the best set up, but still thought it should work. Is there any reason that it shouldn't? Thanks

Try messing with the voltage, I found that the OCZ recommended
voltage was too high.
You will also need to set the timing manually.
