well, they say same prices per Corsair Dominator, or I guess $650/2GB kit.

Lessee now,
8800GTX $650
Asus Striker mobo $350
OCZ Ram $650
Kentsfield $800 - $1200
700W-1000W PSU $200
hmmm. hafta add more houses to my paper route.

Just for giggles I'll add
2 Pioneer DVD111D $66 both
2 320 GB Seagate 7200.10 $94 ea
Antec P180 case ~$80 on sale (to fit vidcard)
and a nice big big monitor ~$800 on special

Or about $3980 shekels, just using onboard sound
Then for the masochists, theres always Vista for another $400

Where does the "OCZ 8 layer heat tranfer (sic) ram module pcb" transfer the heat to?

Additional features of the OCZ PC2-9200 FlexXLC modules include an eight-layer PCB. The eight-layer PCB features thermally conductive power and ground planes to help heat transfer and reduce crosstalk. The signal integrity is also improved with the thermally conductive power and ground planes.

Edit:
That was kinda kinky of you to use the "sic" descriptor for my lack of an "s" in the word transfer. If you really want to know, I have pizza crust under my s key and am too lazy to clean it out.

You would think all ground planes were thermally conductive, being made of, like, copper...

LOL @ the price.

Nice try OCZ...good luck with 0.0000000001% of the market there.

Here's a suggestion for you OCZ people (if you actually patrol the forums)

Try releasing less goddamn cheapo DDR2 models, & try fewer, with more D9-based stuff.

Multitudes of crap OCing cheap chips = me not recommending you guys to anyone.

Micron D9 based and Cheap do not go hand in hand....you can't build a Value kit with the most expensive IC on the market.

They know they have the best offering and are the most widely sought after, they charge for it as well.

OCZ has always been Strong on "Marketing, Hype, and Buzz".....

All three elements Set off my Bull Feces Detector.... In a big way.

They are One of the Best/Worst Example of Viral Marketing in the Computer Components.

As you will recall OCZ "Cryo Z" a Phase Change CPU Cooling Unit was Hyped at CES 2006 In January 2006.... to be a $300.00 Phase change CPU cooler.

"Chilly One"The Thermal Engineer from ExtremeSystems was Hired by OCZ to Assist with the Design is Now Broke, and I'm not sure what happened between them.. But If OCZ comes to Market.... OCZ stole the Design from Chilly One. I'm sure that it was Supposed to be Paid off in Royalties... that as long as it does not sell that they Do Not have to pay...

This Unit was supposed to have been Released in March 2006.

9 Months Later..... this Product is Still Vaporware

Bull Feces such as this..... is the Hype that sells your other Products...

It keeps you in the News, and Drives sales of your Marginal Products as "Enthusiast Gear".

A Further Example of OCZ Marketing Crapola ....

Hard OCP has an OCZ Ad that is a good Example of Their Marketing Hype.

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory (ATI CrossFire Certified)

Last Week Friday i sent this to Kyle Bennett C.E.O. HardOCP :

Kyle :

You have an Ad that is an OCZ created copy ad that States that OCZ?s memory

?Delivers Stunning Visual Experience & High Performance for Gamers?

As you well know OCZ?s memory does not have anything to do with the Video Sub-System in regard to rendering. That is all in Vram and GPU?s

Could you please work with OCZ to get this corrected, as it is long on Marketing, and Very Short on Truth.

Thank you for your attention on this matter? it will send a message to OCZ also in regard to ethical marketing behavior?.

In 2000.....OCZ was a Mom and Pop Shop In Portage Indiana. and they Claimed to Fab their Own Modules Etc... They got caught deceiving the Public then.... They were buying from a Contract fabricator in California... They put Photo's of their Equiptment, On their Website.... and the Reality was that it was their Contract Fab Shop's.

That is why I deal with them at Arm's Length...

The Moral of the story... always be Skeptical of "Hype/Buzz/Viral" Marketing"

sadly i have seen some of these ads like the ati certified ram and though, wtf??? ocz has taken good care of me in the past, but i too cannot further recommend their product due to these type of issues and blatant lies. i am surprised they have not yet put out a "Fatal1ty" line of ram and claim to make you a better gamer.....

With all due respect, if this bothers you then you could slam every hardware vendor/OEM in the business.

sorry man, you need to tell the marketing dept to stop with these b.s. tactics. your support is good, i give you that but some of the marketing is downright embarrassing and insulting to the enthusiasts that use the products.

people come here to learn about computers and seeing ads like how a certain brand of ram will make your gaming experience better with crossfire vs other ram, well...kind of ridiculous

no disrespect to you, but if you could get marketing to not put out this b.s. i think your product would be fine and be better with true marketing. your support and the way you guys stand behind products should be more stressed.

i use to recommend you guys all the time because you have good - very good products for the most part, but with these ads....well it makes me feel like i would be recommending the killernic

we have learned a lot from you guys and appreciate the support in the forums, maybe you could possibly pass this to somebody and let them know that your marketing dept is killing your biz. i know you being tech you probably have nothing to do with it, but the fact is that a person comes to the site, sees the ridiculous ads (which i can't understand how anandtech get up in the first place) and 1. if they have knowledge probably feel you guys are assuming they are an idiot for such a ridiculous claim and are like "OCZ is off their rocker, that is b*llsh!t or 2. a noob will ask in the general hardware forums and be set straight and then again, think why does OCZ think i am a dumba$$

this is not meant to enrage anybody at ocz (well maybe set marketing straight), i am just giving honest feedback from an enthusiasts point of view
