OCZ EL Plat Ed. R2 vs. non-R2

Hi,

What exactly is the difference between OCZ EL Platinum Edition Rev. 2 and non-Rev. 2?? This is the model # I'm looking at: OCZ4001024ELDCPE-K

I hear a lot of people (and reviews) mentioning how great the R2 is, but I can't seem to find much on the non-R2 (R1??)

EDIT: The non-R2 i'm looking at is DDR400, I'm interested in obtaining speeds of DDR533 and if that (or close) is possible with non-R2.

Any help would be appreciated.

the rev2 uses samsung TCCD chips. These are able to reach up to 280FSB on a64, i dont know about intel

so get the rev 2, not the other kind

You might want to consider the OCS Platinum Series PC4200 (DDR533

Yeah I think the OCZ Plat. PC4200 is a bit too pricey for me though... I'm in Canada, so sites like NewEgg won't ship to me anyways..

I was originally considering Corsair TWINX, but had narrowed it down to OCZ Plat., but now that I can't get R2 I'm confused again.

Basically I can get 512MBx2 OCZ PC3200 EL Plat. for $335 (NON Rev. 2). I could get PC3700 EL Gold Rev2, but that's $488!! Or.. I could go with Corsair TWINX1024-3200C2 512MBx2 for $333. [All prices in Canadian dollars].

Anyone have opinions on what I should get?
