OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 / 400MHz / Platinum / Dual Channel

There isn't an infinite supply of any given type of memory chip. If they became scarce, ran out, got more expensive, or something else happened, OCZ may have needed (or wanted) to switch the type of chips used in a given model of their RAM, and as a result they slapped a new version on it. As you can see, in this case it also comes with a change in power requirements.

They do this frequently. Many companies simply swap out the chips and don't put any indication on the hardware, making it difficult or impossible to know exactly what kind of chips is under there.
