OCZ DDR3200 2gigs, slower than spec.. less performance?

Quick question I got a new opteron chip and have it overclocked the ram is some value series. I had to use a divider but now its ending up being slower than the 400 mhz, it's at 388 at 2.5-3-3-6 1T.. now would it really make a difference if I were to go buy some faster ram..does it really need to be over 400 mhz am I slowing down the computer somehow?

thanks

Is there programs out there that I can use to do a benchmark or somethin on it? maybe decrese cpu speed and increase the ram speed and see which is better

I ran this program called sisoft sandra checked memory bandwith with settings at 388 2.5-3-3-6 1T and then switched the 2 gigs out put in some 1 gig ocz gold 2-3-3-6 1T which clocked in at 450..there was about a 800 mb bandwith difference.. Question what would this be useful for? video editing?

I then did a 3dmark05 test between the two and there was a whopping 2 point difference.. so I guess there's more than enough bandwidth for games and whatnot

you kinda answered your own question on that - it would seem memory on your system isn't a bottleneck and isn't likely to effect performance in many or any cases

memory bandwidth testing is just another benchie and is only to be used for fun IMO - testing with real apps and getting a feel of your computer is better than looking at theoretical numbers

bandwidth is only as good as the system that will use it - vaguely similar to PCI-e 1.1 vs PCI-e 2.0

No. a 12 MHz DDR difference will not affect performance in any way.
