OCZ DDR Booster

I currently own a Abit IS7, and the highest voltage is 2.8 for the VDIMM. I am planning to upgrade my ram sometime in the near future and I would like to supply more power to them so I was wondering if the DDR booster would work on my mobo. I remember that there was a volt mod for the IS7. So would it really be necessary to purchase the DDR booster? Also, I heard it gets very hot, any good idea to cool it down?
