OCZ By-Passing motherboard DIMM voltage???

I did a search and foudn nothing so I am posting:A

I found this interesting new device on frozencpu.com. From wht I can tell it takes all the power that woudl go to the dimms from teh 20 pin ATX connector and then sends it to the dimms through THIS device. It obvously has to work to some degree or OCZ woudl simply not be selling it. I am just amaized that this has not been done before. I certainly woudl never have thought of it.

That's some crazy sh1t....but cool... theres only one ram I'd pump even close to that in.. about 3.4 V... and that's winbond BH-5...

Simply not worth destroying some expensive ram for a few more sandra points IMO.

thanks for the headsup but i think someone posted this a while back and if you go visit bleedinedge.com there is a thread with ocz reps dedicated to this topic...

Just because it can go up to 3.9 doesnt mean you will be feeding your ram the max voltage. For example Ocz 3700eb likes about 3.0 vdimm, so you adjust the voltage accordingly. Alot of motherboards cannot do vdimms higher than 2.85, so your overclocks are limited. You have to resort to some vdimm mods. This is their answer to the problem. It's a great product.

It's a great item if you can't get a VDimm mod for your mobo. Alot of OCZ and other high end memory can take around 3.0v which alot of mobos can't provide. Then of course you have the bh5 that will do wonders at 3.2 or 3.3.

Has told a few weeks back ago, it's meant for SERIOUS overclockers, not the ones that try 10/20% overclocks...

Running my BH-5 at 3.51V right now...

sounds like a great little piece of hardware 🙂

youre d@mn right id like to get my BH ram upto 500+ddr cas222 😀

Anandtech had this up months ago on their news section..

I wonder if they are worth the price for the performance they give =\
