OCZ Behemoth - Anybody have any experience with this mouse

Hi All,

I'm looking at picking up a more sensitive "gaming" mouse and looking on Newegg I came across the OCZ Behemoth, for about $30 (right in my justifiable price range). I'm curious how this performs in real life--I don't really trust the Newegg reviews fully and would like to hear from some of you that have used it.

So, for those that use/have used this mouse, how is it for a casual fps gamer that wants better performance than his MX Revolution is providing (besides raw dpi numbers)? I would be keeping my MX Revolution for day to day use and the OCZ purely for gaming (tf2, operation flashpoint, America's Army 3--if quality improves, etc). I don't really want to spend more than this (wish I would have gotten in on the Logitech G9 when it was deeply discounted), but I don't want to pay $30 for a dud.

Thanks in advance,
Trevor

Gaming performance generally has little to do with DPI numbers, bigger factors would be tracking performance (older laser sensors are notoriously bad when the mouse is thrown around at high speeds) and polling rate. The polling rate factor with the MX Revolution will be exceptionally large, as most all wireless mouses operate at a slower polling rate than the default 125Hz (IIRC, the MX Rev peaks at ~90Hz), whereas most all gaming grade mouses these days support 500Hz or even 1000Hz polling (ie the rate at which the computer and mouse are "communicating").

That being said, the MX Revolution suffers from both of these setbacks, just about any newer mouse (and most any older wired LED optical) will be an upgrade when it comes to gaming.

Good to hear. I placed my order yesterday and will see how it works out when it arrives next week. Thanks.

I was going to suggest the legendary MX518 ($40 but has free shipping, so about the same price as the Behemoth which doesn't have free shipping), but I'm guessing it'd be too late for you to change your order now.

meh, MX518 is overrated

doesn't officially support 500Hz or 1000Hz polling (its the default 125Hz) and even when tweaked with a 3rd part tool generally tops out well below 1000Hz...(although 500Hz or more is certainly nothing to really complain about)

it also has prediction (tries to straighten/smooth your lines)

the MX518, much like the DeathAdder, is very close to being perfect. Unfortunately whats holding it back is much more than the DeathAdder, so if we're going to contemplate inflating the budget we'd might as well throw in a few more bucks for the DA, however I doubt the OP will dislike or regret his original choice considering he's coming from an MX Rev.

Actually, I mentioned the MX518 because it's only $2-3 more than the OCZ Behemoth at Newegg. The DA, on the other hand, is almost 50% (nearly $20 more.

the DA can easily be found for ~$45 with free shipping from many reputable vendors
